It amazes me that Apple's 3D interface is still leaps and bounds better than Microsoft Vista Aero. And, you don't need a top of the line Macintosh. Many loyal Microsoft users are miffed at the performance requirements of their PCs in order to take full advantage of Vista.

I hope Apple can push greater 3D capabilities onto the iPhone shortly.

This content is Copyright 2004-2007 Bruno and Lígia Rodrigues,
and is available on litux.org.
@fastcars: who cares about the X3-35? Why would one want to have so much horse-power when in most countries there are speed limits, and when the fuel is so expensive. I mean, we have the more conservative Diesel engine and it's already near to €100 to fill up the tank! :(

This content is Copyright 2004-2007 Bruno and Lígia Rodrigues,
and is available on litux.org.
@Lesishu: that means that either the Apple TV is still in read only mode, or there is a httpd process already running on the Apple TV.

For the first, run the following command on the Apple TV:

sudo mount -uw /

For the later, just kill the httpd process before you copy the file, and then restart it:

killall httpd

or

ps auxww | grep httpd
(take note of the pid numbers)
kill "pid1" "pid2"...

This content is Copyright 2004-2007 Bruno and Lígia Rodrigues,
and is available on litux.org.
@Kris Lee: you should not trust everything that gets published and instead have your own opinion ;)

1. there are laws of physics that can't be broken down. Yes, the iPhone 2MP camera is not the best sensor in the market, but most 5MP mobile devices out there can be even worse. If you put 5MP in a sensor the same size as the 2MP, the image quality just degrades and the noise level will be unbearable. For example, the 3MP camera of the SonyEricsson K800i is way better than the 5MP camera of the N95.

2. 5 hour talk time is more than most devices out there, when used in real live. There is no such device I used that lasts as long, both on talk time and standby time, than the iphone, and I do work in a telco company. Since the blackberrys (when they were still 2.5G) and the K750i, the iPhone is the only device that lasts weeks in standby mode.

3. 8G is more than enough and more than all devices out there. Only recently 8G (and 16G) memory cards appear, and they're all SD(HC), when the devices have moved to mini sd and can't reach that memory size. The physical state waste of a memory card slot would make the iPhone much bigger. See also 5.

5. A removable battery uses double the physical state - the connectors, space between the battery and the device, the cover, etc. But yes, I can partially agree that when the battery dies (and they do a lot), it will be a pain to take it back to apple, specially outside the US and the Apple shops.

4. Like they say, it's not the size that matters, but what one does with it. Although 3G is the future, it's still not there. 2.5G++ (and then EDGE) have been around for enough time to get it fully optimized, both on the network and on the devices, whilst 3G is still too immature and too far away from the theoretical benefit. Also, it's not only the bandwidth that matters, but the quality and speediness of the software. In practice, it's much faster and pleasant to browser and read email and see videos and etc. on the iPhone, than in any other 3G device. Just try to browse a page on the iPhone and EDGE, and on a N95 on 3G+ or HSDPA, and tell me which one is the faster one. (if you could even open the page on the N95 without a memory exhaustion).

The iPhone is not perfect? Of course it isn't. But Apple has to be recognized by having done something much better, on the first attempt, than all other manufactures have done after years of trying.

This content is Copyright 2004-2007 Bruno and Lígia Rodrigues,
and is available on litux.org.
Top five shortcomings of the why iphone sucks? according to Newlaunches:
1. 2-megapixel camera when others have 5-megapixel shooters on board
2. 5-hour talk time: not enough battery life
3. No expansion slot. Go for the 8-gig model and that's it.
4. No 3G: EDGE is so last year
5. No removable battery: You mean we can't take along a spare battery? WTF?

This content is Copyright 2004-2007 Bruno and Lígia Rodrigues,
and is available on litux.org.
This sounds great - unfortunately when I try the command;

scp -r /usr/libexec/httpd frontrow@your.apple.tv.ip.address:/usr/libexec/.

I get the error;
scp: /usr/libexec/./httpd: Permission denied

I’m definately logged in to the apple tv… - do I need to alter permissions or use a sudo command?

any help gratefully received

This content is Copyright 2004-2007 Bruno and Lígia Rodrigues,
and is available on litux.org.
Lightroom still seems to be the way to go, but getting hold of the updates from Adobe has been a nightmare. You may also find, if running a 64-bit OS, that you get some niggling little glitches here and there, though I supposed that's to be expect in this day-and-age with 64-bit systems.

This content is Copyright 2004-2007 Bruno and Lígia Rodrigues,
and is available on litux.org.
